Family Involvement

At Sanostee Day School, we believe that students thrive when families, educators, and the community work together. Research shows that children perform better in school when parents and guardians are actively involved in their education. Our goal is to foster strong relationships between families and the school through clear communication, shared decision-making and meaningful engagement opportunities.
How Families Can Get Involved
We encourage parents and guardians to participate in their child’s education in the following ways:
- Teacher at Home: Support learning by helping with homework and creating a positive study environment.
- Supporter: Volunteer at school, share your skills and participate in activities.
- Advocate: Ensure your child receives the support and resources they need to succeed.
- Decision Maker: Collaborate with school staff to address concerns and improve the learning experience.
Two-Way Communication
We value open and ongoing communication with families. We achieve this through:
- Parent-teacher conferences each quarter.
- Regular updates on student progress.
- Monthly newsletters and letters from the principal.
- A dedicated Parent Portal for real-time student information.
- Parent advisory meetings to share decision-making.
Parent Involvement Committee
Each school has a Parent Involvement Committee made up of parents, guardians and school staff. The PIC:
- Helps develop and update the Parent/Guardian Involvement Policy.
- Plans and assesses family engagement activities.
- Meets on the first Wednesday of every month to discuss school policies and programs.
- Encourages all parents/guardians to participate.
- Provides language interpretation upon request.
Annual Parent Meeting
We host an annual parent meeting to share key information about:
- The school’s improvement plan and academic goals.
- Parent rights and involvement opportunities.
- Important topics such as student assessment data, safety, social-emotional learning, and college and career readiness.
At Sanostee Day School, we recognize parents and guardians as essential partners in their children’s education and are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all families.
