At Sanostee Day School, student life is rooted in respect, cultural identity, academic growth, and a strong sense of community. Serving kindergarten through third grade, we focus on nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and culturally—both in and beyond the classroom.

A Supportive, Enriching Environment

Our school provides more than academic instruction. It offers a safe, welcoming space where students feel valued, supported, and inspired. Our dedicated staff builds strong relationships with families and promotes curiosity, confidence, and kindness in all learners.

Cultural Pride and Community Values

Sanostee Day School integrates Diné language, traditions, and values into daily learning. Events such as Native American Spirit Week and culturally-based art projects help students connect with their identity and celebrate their heritage.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

We give students opportunities to explore, discover and grow through hands-on experiences:

  • Science Fair– Students conduct investigations, create presentations, and share their projects with the school community.
  • Summer Academy– This program provides reading and math support, outdoor activities, cultural art projects, meals and snacks, and an end-of-summer field trip.
  • Digital Learning—Through our 1:1 laptop program, students strengthen their reading, writing, and math skills using technology alongside classroom instruction.

Celebrations and Fun

Throughout the year, students engage in fun and motivating events that encourage teamwork, group effort, and school spirit, including:

  • Field Day – A fun-filled event with sack races, relays, tug-of-war and other outdoor games.
  • Incentive Programs – Rewards students for positive behavior, strong academic effort, and regular attendance.

Family and Community Involvement

Sanostee Day School values strong family-school partnerships. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in:

  • Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) meetings
  • Schoolwide events and celebrations

These opportunities keep families informed and engaged in shaping a positive student experience.

At Sanostee Day School, we believe students are our future. Through academics, cultural learning, play, and community support, we prepare each child to grow into a strong, responsible member of the Diné Nation and the world.
